COMPENSATION: Full Time, Hourly, Range @ $18 - $25 based on experience

SCHEDULE: Monday to Friday, Evenings and Weekends as needed

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITY

The Community for the Advancement of Family Education (CAFE) has an opening for a Community Equity Organizer covering an assigned region across Chelan, Douglas, Grant, Okanogan, and Yakima Counties. The Community Equity Organizer supports the Community Engagement Coordinator with special projects and events. It's important to note that the role of a Community Equity Organizer is dynamic and requires adaptability to the specific needs and challenges of the community they serve. Effective communication, empathy, and a commitment to social justice are essential for success in this role.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DELIVERABLES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Community Equity Organizer

    • Engage with community members to understand their concerns and needs. 

    • Raise awareness about issues related to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Provide educational resources to empower community members with knowledge about their rights and opportunities.

    • Build relationships with diverse groups to ensure representation and inclusivity. Develops CAFE’s overall strategy for community organizing and engagement.

    • Leads the implementation of the community organizing and engagement strategy elevating the voices of Wenatchee members and their community representatives.

    • Serves as a strategic leader, and a representative for CAFE in public meetings or engagements.

    • Establishes the strategy and plan to identify appropriate locations and best partners for community organizing and engagement activities.

    • Works with CAFE staff to ensure community member needs are addressed.

    • Co-develop trainings, facilitate workshops, and develop learning spaces that increase the public’s knowledge on power structures, decision making, and racial equity.

    • Engage community members on a range of issues raised.

    • Create an effective and collaborative work environment that supports innovation and excellence while centering community voice.

    • Embeds DEI and anti-racism practices and tools into the everyday functioning of the Commission.

    • Empowerment Programs: Develop programs that empower marginalized groups within the community. This could include mentorship, leadership development, and skills training.

    • Data Collection and Analysis: Gather data on community demographics, needs, and challenges. Analyze this data to identify patterns and trends that inform equity initiatives

  • Attend personnel meetings to provide updates;

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Will:

    • Support the affiliate’s commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.

    • Value continuous learning and seek ongoing training and development.

    • Work collaboratively with CAFE’s team to execute an/all requested projects.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Familiarity with issues relevant to the Latinx and communities of color

  • The position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, working knowledge of digital content management systems and social media platforms, and proficiency in Google Services/Microsoft Suite

  • The candidate should possess an upbeat and enthusiastic personality, be a team player with a service-oriented mindset

  • High level of computer literacy including, MS Office Suite, Google Services, and calendaring

  • Fluency in Spanish and English required
